Aims and Scope

The Annals of Blood (ISSN 2521-361X; Ann Blood; AOB) is the official journal of Guangzhou Blood Center, a nonprofit institute committed to clinical blood supply, scientific research and education related to transfusion medicine and hematology. In line with the Center’s principles, AOB aims at prompting the development of transfusion medicine and hematology research, and providing a professional platform for physicians and investigators internationally to share advanced research results, clinical experience and innovative ideas.

AOB is an open-access, international peer-reviewed electronic journal, and openly distributed worldwide. It publishes Original Articles, Editorials, Technique Notes, Case Reports and Reviews on all aspects of transfusion medicine and hematology, covering transfusion clinical practices, immunohaematology, blood component collection and production, transfusion-transmitted diseases, immunogenetics, histocompatibility, haemostasis and all the other sub-specialties related to hematology. The journal features a distinguished editorial board, which brings together a team of highly experienced specialists in hematology.

The entire submission is managed through OJS system, an electronic system to provide an efficient way and ensure a rapid turn around of papers submitted for publication. Manuscripts are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and Editorial Board Members, as well as invited referees and a statistician when appropriate.

Information for Authors

AOB is a member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and it follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)'s guidelines and the ICMJE recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journal.

Manuscripts submitted must be the original work of the author(s) and must not be published previously or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Submission Turnaround Time

  • In-house review: 1-3 weeks
  • External peer review: 1-3 months
  • Publication Ahead of Print: within 1 month after being accepted
  • Formal publication: within 1-3 months after being accepted. Original Articles are listed as priority.

Publication Schedule

Published continuously from Nov. 2016 to Dec. 2019, AOB now follows a quarterly publication model (March, June, September, December).

Annals of Blood is a peer reviewed, open access journal. All content of the journal is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial- NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). All articles published open access will be immediately and permanently free for all to read, download, copy and distribute as defined by the applied license.

Permitted third party reuse is defined by the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. This license allows users to copy and distribute the article, provided:
