Seyed Mohammad Jazayeri, MD, PhD

Dr  Jazayeri obtained his MD degree  from Beheshti University, Tehran, Iran. In 1998 he moved to the UK for his PhD degree. In Glasgow University, he investigated on hepatitis B virus core Ag (HBcAg) localization and molecular epidemiology of HBV genotypes. Later, he obtained valuable experience as a clinical scientist at The West Scotland Specialist Virology Center where he studied different approaches to viral molecular diagnostics. Since 2007, he is a virologist and leader of a research laboratory at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, where, seventeen researches as MSc and PhD students, infectious and gastroenterology clinical specialists, research fellows and academic staff have been training full/part time in this laboratory. He is board-certified in virology in the Ministry of Health. His research interests are: HBV molecular epidemiology, HBV immunization, viral evolution and viral molecular diagnostics. 

Dr Jazayeri has been involved in different international, national and local research projects.  He has collaborated internationally in various research projects and has published 74 articles and authored 3 chapters in international books.

 In 2013, Dr Jazayeri was elected by fellow virologists as a member of governing board and Secretariat of the Iranian Association for Virology. He is currently a member of executive board and director for international affairs of The Iranian  Scientific Association of Clinical Laboratory Societies (ISACLS) and the liaison person of European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) to Iran.
