Chief Medical Officer, Bloodworks

Dr. YanYun Wu is the Chief Medical Officer of Bloodworks. As a member of the executive team, she provides medical oversight, guidance and policy direction for all of Bloodworks’s operations, as well as leadership of its specialized physicians and PhD lab directors. In addition, she is the medical director of Bloodworks immunohematology laboratory and the head of Bloodworks Academy.

Dr. Wu has been a faculty member at Yale University School of Medicine since 2002. Prior to joining Bloodworks, Dr. Wu was the Associate Medical Director for Transfusion Service, Apheresis Service, and Cellular Therapy Laboratories at Yale-New Haven Hospital, TM fellowship program director, and Associate Professor at Yale University School of Medicine. She continues her research studies in collaboration with many faculty members at Yale University.

Currently, Dr. Wu serves as a Board Director (President Elect) for the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA). She also promotes transfusion safety globally; in particular, she has been actively participating in transfusion medicine education in China. She holds several visiting faculty appointments in China including scholar professor at Peking Union Medical College.
